AI / upload mode roadmap

Chat with PDF Roadmap

Chat with PDF requires retrieval quality, citation grounding and explicit upload boundaries. It remains separate from local MVP tools.

how it works

Designed for the shortest private path.

  1. Use local tools for PDF preparation today.
  2. Chat requires retrieval and citation quality gates.
  3. Upload, retention and deletion boundaries must be explicit before launch.
advanced feature boundary

Chat with PDF is not shipped in the local MVP yet.

This feature needs a higher quality bar than the current browser-only pipeline. If it later requires upload or AI processing, VaultPDF will separate it from local tools and ask for explicit consent before any file leaves the browser.

Practical boundaries before you process a file.

Why is Chat with PDF not in the local MVP?

Reliable PDF chat needs extraction, chunking, retrieval and citation quality beyond simple browser PDF editing.

Will answers include citations?

They should. Without citations, Chat with PDF can mislead users on legal, financial or academic documents.
